'Pohe' is a most popular  breakfast in Maharashtra,though you could eat them anytime of the day.It is also  considered  as popular street food in Maharashtra. It is made from beaten rice or flattened rice.The best part of this recipe is it is easy to make, and can be made using easily available  ingredients  at home.Today I am going to share  a healthy,easy to digest breakfast or snack item 'Pohe'.

Ingredients

  • Poha or Flattened  Rice or Chire-2 cups
  • Onions-2 ( chopped)
  • Green Chillies - 2 (chopped)
  • Oil-2 tablespoons
  • Peanuts -4 tablespoons
  • Mustard Seeds-1/2 teaspoon
  • Ginger-1/2 teaspoon (minced)
  • Curry leaves-5
  • Turmeric Powder-1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander Powder - 1 / 2 teaspoon
  • Coriander Leaves (chopped)-1/4 cup
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon

Method

  1. Put the poha in a big colander and rinse it two or three times under running water. Poha should not be mashed. 
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add Peanuts, fry until light brown and crunchy.Remove Peanuts from pan and keep aside.
  3. Add minced ginger into the remaining oil, add mustard seeds and when they splutter add curry leaves.Saute for a minute then add chopped onions and green chillies, fry for some times.Add pohe or flattened rice and mix well.
  4. Add  turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix and sauté for two minutes.
  5. Add fried Peanuts and cook till poha is heated through.Add lemon juice and mix.
  6. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with a cup of hot ginger tea.
Note - 1. if you want, you can add some several on top while serving.I did not add several as my family members do not like it.

2.If you want you can add little  bit sugar.
